Our school is affiliated with the Seattle Central Community College’s Co-op Program. The emphasis of our program is the social development of the child. Of primary importance is building a child’s positive self-image, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Social, intellectual, and psychological gains are made through creative and cooperative play.
The Magnolia Co-op admits children of every race, religion, sex, family status, disability, and national origin. Our Co-op is a non-profit organization, run by a volunteer parent Board. It is a nonprofit under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
A cooperative preschool is unique in that you and your child enroll in the program together. A parent or caregiver attends class with their child one day per week. As the child grows older, they gradually spend more time at preschool on their own. This slow transition into preschool fosters self-confidence, independence, and kindergarten readiness. Through years of involvement with a group of children and parents, a community develops. The resources and support this network of parents provides is a benefit that lasts far beyond the preschool years.
