Enroll at Magnolia Cooperative Preschool and join our community!

Member Requirements

⚠️ Please read before enrolling.

Choosing a cooperative preschool is choosing something wonderfully different. Magnolia Co-op is a community where families, teachers, and parent educators work together to create a warm, play-based environment where children—and adults—learn and grow side by side.

This model offers numerous benefits: closer connection to your child’s learning, friendships with other families, support from early childhood experts, and a school community that belongs to its members. Because of this structure, families share responsibilities beyond a traditional drop-off preschool including classroom participation and administrative roles. This shared work also helps keep tuition affordable.

🌱 Strong community

🏷️ Affordable tuition

As a member of Magnolia Co-op, families commit to:

  • Working in the classroom one day per week
Caregivers support play and routines alongside our teachers and parent educators, building relationships and seeing their child’s growth firsthand. (Infant and Toddler caregivers attend every class.)

  • Attending one monthly evening parent education meeting

Led by North Seattle College parent educators, these on-site sessions offer child development guidance and help families build a supportive community—one of the most valued parts of the co-op model.

  • Holding one class job and one all-school job
Families help operate the school through roles ranging from classroom support and maintenance to events and fundraising, which keeps our community strong and tuition affordable.

  • Optional Board participation
Families may also join the Board of Directors. No experience required-just enthusiasm.

Please review the programs page for the classes, rates and availability, as well as the member handbook for more details.

  • We are proud to offer scholarships to families that may need assistance. MCP's scholarship policy is an extension of the North Seattle College's PAC scholarship program.

Look up your family income (less unreimbursed out of pocket healthcare expenses) in the Scholarship Guidelines. MCP will match the NSC support up to a max of 100%. For example, if the table gives you say "30% of tuition covered" then your total scholarship support would be 60% of tuition, plus $50 off registration, plus your parent education class fees will be waived.

Scholarship applications can be turned in at registration. NSC support is awarded on a quarterly basis, hence, new application form is required each quarter (fall, winter, spring) and details are kept confidential. If you have further questions, contact treasurer@magnoliacoop.org.

  • No. You only pay the fee once you’re offered a spot and choose to accept it. If you receive an email prompting payment, please reach out to our treasurer at treasurer@magnoliacoop.org to have the fee removed from your account.

  • Please notify the Registrar as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to another family.

After commencement of classes, a member may use a prepaid month’s tuition only by giving notice a full thirty days prior to his/her withdrawal. To give notice you must request a Withdrawal Form from your membership registrar, the Assistant Treasurer, or your teacher. No refunds will be given for unused portions of a calendar month.

If several months’ tuition is paid in advance, any advance tuition, with the exception of the first and last month’s tuition, will be refunded upon withdrawal from the Cooperative.

If a member must withdraw from the Cooperative because of moving outside the city of Seattle, on recommendation of a doctor or their Preschool Teacher, or on directive from the Board, and is unable to give a full 30 days notice, then any unused full month’s tuition is refundable. Refunds for other emergency situations shall be issued upon approval of the Board.
