Toddler's Teacher Job Posting 2026-2027

Magnolia Cooperative Preschool is now hiring a teacher for our 2026–2027 Toddlers class (ages 12 months–2 years).

This is a cooperative preschool program rather than a drop-off program, meaning parents participate regularly in the classroom and educational experience. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to model positive interactions with young children while helping parents understand the developmental purpose behind classroom activities and routines.

The teacher should be nurturing, collaborative, and knowledgeable about early childhood development, particularly for toddlers, and comfortable working closely with families in a community-centered environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach approximately 16 students and collaborate with caregivers, who remain in the classroom, to foster a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

  • Lead age-appropriate circle time activities including songs, stories, movement, dancing, and interactive games.

  • Design engaging play stations and hands-on classroom activities tailored to toddler development, with themes and materials rotated at least monthly.

  • Model positive, respectful interactions with children and support caregivers in understanding child development and classroom practices.

  • Communicate effectively with caregivers, including sending a monthly or bimonthly newsletter (as determined in the annual agreement) updating families on how classroom activities are meeting students’ needs.

  • Include an element of parent education for caregivers in your curriculum planning (i.e. newsletter updates on toddler milestones and other child development elements).

  • Attend monthly staff meetings and collaborate with other teachers to provide a developmentally appropriate program that follows National Association for the Education of Young Children standards and supports children’s emotional and physical development.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with participating families and school leadership.

  • Collaborate with the preschool community to support the cooperative philosophy and parent education model.

Schedule

  • Teach two morning classes per week (Thursdays and Fridays, 9:30–11:30 a.m.), plus setup, cleanup, and planning time.

  • Attend monthly evening board meetings and monthly staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent experience working with preschool-aged children. Experience in a cooperative preschool setting is a plus.

  • Ability to develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities through play-based learning.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults.

  • Enthusiasm for, and commitment to, the collaborative nature of a cooperative school.

  • Ability to move comfortably and frequently between different classroom areas (kitchen, play areas, circle time, etc.) and position oneself to interact with children throughout the classroom.

  • First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification prior to the start date.

Benefits

  • Salary based on experience.

  • High adult-to-child ratio (caregivers stay for the full class time and serve as assistant teachers).

  • Paid sick leave and holidays.

  • Ten-month work year, with the option to work during the summer months.

  • Access to guidance and support from Parent Education professionals

  • Monthly stipend to assist with medical premiums, copays, prescription costs, deductibles, and dental expenses.

  • Monthly retirement stipend to support retirement savings.

  • Field trip and/or end-of-year celebration budget.

  • Paid professional development and training opportunities, including but not limited to Washington Association for the Education of Young Children seminar costs, National Association for the Education of Young Children dues, and annual First Aid/CPR training.
